Prior to embarking on a career as an art teacher in international schools I made my living giving private art lessons in my home studio. Many of my students were artistically gifted and my focus was to guide them to realize their potential. Conversely, I had many students with limited ability and I endeavored to guide them to find the hidde artist within and to tap that source as a form of expression. 'Being heard through art' has been and continues to be my mantra.

I also have experience in cartoon art and creating action games for computer media and can teach these skills to students. At my last school these topics attracted students to my classes. As a final project students created and presented their original cartoons and games at a school-wide assembly.

I am also adept at web site design and can and do incorporate this media into my classes. Students design and maintain their own web sites throughout the school your, displaying their original art. Parents are able to log in to veiw their child's portfolio.

I have high expectations for my students. I endeavor to instill in them the motivation to explore their own feelings and personalities and express their being through the medium of art. Creativity and self expression are at the core of my program. I strongly believe that students remember few of the facts they learn in school, but do retain the memories and influence of experience that touched home and motivated them to develop as a person. Facts are more readily learned when motivated by a curiosity sparked by an experience. Ethnic art is my passion and I draw from the community for ideas and materials to expand my current curriculum. I thrive on travel and change and living overseas satisfies the desire to continually grow and explore. To date, overseas living has been the high point of my adult life and I plan to continue with this lifestyle for many years to come. and I feel I display the enthusiasm it affords me in my daily teaching and interactions with students, parents and colleagues.
